About Us
Welcome To Day1Week1
Day1Week1 was founded with a simple but powerful mission to stand beside those who stand in the gap for others. Born out of lived experience and a near brush with tragedy, our founder understood firsthand what it means to reach the edge of hope.
The name Day1Week1 represents the moment when a person decides to begin again — the first day of a new week, a fresh start toward healing and restoration.
We exist to help first responders, veterans, and their families rediscover that new beginning through mental health support, marriage restoration, emergency financial aid, and a strong chaplaincy foundation rooted in faith and compassion.
What sets Day1Week1 apart is that our mission was not built from theory — it was built from survival.
OUR MISSION
To restore hope and purpose for first responders, veterans and their families through mental health support, marriage restoration, emergency assistance and faith-based community care.
OUR VISION
Aims to create a lasting culture of restoration where every first responder, veteran, and family can heal, stay connected, and thrive beyond the battles they’ve faced. To eliminate the stigma.
Day1Week1 Guiding Principles:
Day1Week1 is guided by values that shape every conversation, every prayer, and every act of support. These principles help us serve first responders, veterans, and their families with compassion, integrity, and faith.
Faith First
We trust in God’s strength and guidance as the foundation for every act of service and restoration.
Compassion in Action

We lead with honesty, transparency, and accountability in every decision and relationship.
Community over Isolation
We believe healing happens together, through connection, brotherhood, and shared purpose.
Resilience through Renewal
We champion new beginnings, reminding every person that it’s never too late to start again — your Day 1 can begin any week.

It started with one moment of courage.
“Day1Week1 was born from my own fight to survive when I thought I couldn’t take one more step. I know what it feels like to be broken and searching for light. That’s why our purpose is simple — to walk with others through their darkest days and remind them that hope is still alive. Our commitment is to serve with honesty, faith, and heart. When you partner with Day1Week1, you’re not just supporting a program — you’re helping rebuild lives, one new beginning at a time.”
BILLY BOWERING
FOUNDER & DIRECTOR

Meet The Leadership and Team
Guided by faith.
Led by those who’ve served.
Our leadership team combines years of experience in crisis response, mental health, and ministry — united by one mission: to ensure every first responder and veteran feels supported, seen, and safe.

Billy Bowering
CEO/FOUNDER
Billy knows firsthand the weight carried by those who serve. Twice standing before a training council under allegations that threatened his career and nearly his life, he experienced the fear, isolation, and uncertainty that many first responders face in silence. Through faith, perseverance, and a heart committed to service, Billy turned his trials into purpose, founding Day1Week1 to stand in the gap for those who have always stood for others. His mission is to bring hope, healing, and encouragement to first responders, veterans, and their families—reminding them that they are never alone, their sacrifices are deeply honored, and their lives matter. Billy’s journey is a testament to resilience, faith, and the power of responding with compassion to those who need it most.

Colleen Bowering
Secretary
I was born and raised in Syracuse NY. I was raised with minimal money, but my mom made sure, as a single parent, that we had everything we needed. I am a mother of two amazing adult children, and a grandmother of 3 grand daughters. The love I have for them is indescribable! I was a “human” nurse for over 30 years, and in my 40’s went back to school to become an animal nurse. I currently work at a local Veterinary office. I am married to my soulmate, who is a Veteran and former first responder. I just have to thank God for everything he has blessed me with.

Joshua Malinski
Treasurer
I’m passionate about giving back to the men and women who have dedicated their lives to serving others. Supporting veterans and first responders is close to my heart, and I believe the best way to honor their sacrifices is by building community, offering encouragement, and creating resources that truly make a difference. For me, it’s about standing beside those who have stood strong for us and making sure they know they’re never alone.
